To automatically download ActiveX controls so that your users do not have to do it manually, set the value of the Automatic Image Import to Yes (1) in the Application Object Manager component. On the Welcome screen of your Siebel Open UI client, or when you run the Siebel Open UI client as a virtual desktop, select Options > Setup > Client/Siebel Application Settings. If the Automatic Image Import field is not set to Yes (1) then the client has been installed.
The Settings tab includes a section with two subsections, labeled Application Sessions and Proxy. You can specify in each subsection the number of application sessions, the maximum number of concurrent sessions, the size limit for the client cache, and the cache timeout. You can specify a range of days that an application user can have concurrent sessions. In the session limit subsection, you specify the maximum number of concurrent sessions and the time limit on the number of simultaneous sessions. The time limit is specified in days, hours, and minutes. In the client cache subsection, you specify the maximum size of the cache in kilobytes. This limit can be a positive number, a negative number, or 0 (no limit). If the value is 0 in the counter, then the number of bytes stored in the cache is unlimited. In the proxy subsection, you specify the HTTP proxy server to use for access to your application.
The activeX controls must follow the same security techniques as all binaries. One of the approaches for increasing the security of your clients is to drop the permissions for the activex control. For instance, if your clients have privileges to all the Firewall page ranks, you could use the Level set in Control Properties dialog box (From the Show web page, right click the object, and then select properties). d2c66b5586
