Two component, moisture insensitive, high modulus, epoxy paste available in cartridges and bulk kits. Ideal as a bonding agent, filler, capping material for crack injection or as a pick-proof sealant.
I posted this story about the ducklings on Facebook, and hundreds of people responded, and I realized this story was deeper and truer than my own small experience. We all crack at inexplicable moments while holding it together when the deepest sorrows threaten to consume us if we give them the smallest toehold. Consciously or unconsciously we may notice that anger and anxiety often eclipse sadness, perhaps because they carry with them sparks of energy that keep us going. I know that for me, sorrow breaks me while rage fuels me. Sorrow threatens to topple what might turn out to be a precarious house of cards, leaving in its path no capacity to move forward at all. But sorrow demands its day, and a little thing like a mother duck losing all her babies may be all it takes for the heart to say: No more. You must feel this thing, however small so that your humanity is not turned into outrage and fear alone. You must feel this thing so that your heart does not shrivel under the weight of your rageful shouting lungs or your racing fearful mind.I take it as a good sign that so many people could relate to my Facebook post. It means that in the midst of so much fury, trauma, and terror, hearts refuse to be crushed. There is hope in that: hope that our human love and compassion will ultimately eclipse our human cruelty, myopia, selfishness, and apathy; hope that our arguing may subside, and our willingness to collaborate to solve our systemic problems may gain traction; hope that we will learn how to be solutionaries so that a mother losing her ducklings may one day become among the worst of our sorrows, not the least.
From the looks of the average driveway or sidewalk, it may seem as though concrete is just destined to crack. But if concrete is so prone to cracking, how are we able to use it in so many high-stress applications like bridges and skyscrapers? This question came about while I was researching 3D-printed thermite for an article. Thermite is often used in welding railroad tracks, and I linked a video of fresh tracks being welded that had concrete ties. I knew I had to find out how concrete could be made to withstand the pressure of freight trains.
Rebar or mesh-enforced concrete is good for things like parking lot blocks and roads, but it still fails before it ought to. In fact, it usually has to crack before the rebar can chip in any of its tensile strength.
Steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete is well accepted due to its better resistance against segregation and its effective use in congested reinforcements. It has improved ductile properties, and crack propagation is minimal. As the need for sustainable materials increases all over the world, innovative techniques to make concrete more durable become relevant. Concrete is prone to cracks, which make it vulnerable as they debase it and erode the steel support. Bacterial concrete is a progression of current concrete innovation. Limestone-hastening microscopic organisms are brought into concrete during casting, and, when cracking happens due to dampness, microorganisms contribute to mending the breaks. Thereupon, a blend between self-healing attributes and the qualities of steel fiber-fortified self-compacting concrete is presented. In this paper, micro-silica is utilized to substitute Ordinary Portland Cement by up to 30%. Around 1,5% of steel fiber is used in the concrete mix. 20% is shown as an ideal amount for micro-silica substitution. The performance of self-compacting concrete under specific loads and their impact on healing are examined, as well as the quality of the recovered concrete. An overall increase in elasticity and durability over typical self-compacting concrete is seen.
I started building a short position in OHI earlier this year. As the price increased, I added to it. OHI has been full-throttle ahead on its acquisitions with several large portfolio deals. This creates a lot of turmoil in the quarter-to-quarter numbers, but when we look at the details, there are very large cracks appearing, as several of OHI's top 10 and former top 10 tenants are having significant difficulty keeping their heads above water.
RUSSELS, Belgium -- Anticipating that NATO may eventually launch a ground offensive, Yugoslav army brigades have been stationed along the likely attack routes from Macedonia and Albania and are trying to fortify the border, according to allied officials.
