Sandler and Spitz are the leads. They could be interesting rivals. Aniston is a good foil for Sandler because he has to deal with her constant bickering. The vacation is partly set on an ancient Norwegian island. It's a lovely setting. I'm not entirely sure what the point of the island is. It's just a pretty scene. The crew are a collection of Clue characters. They're all there for a few minutes before they have nothing to do. It's even more like Murder on the Orient Express with all these people. The cast is great and they all did fantastic work. Sandler is funny and charming but he never gets a break. I never saw this movie before the first night and I didn't find it entertaining. But I did find the acting very good. Sandler is probably too young to be playing a grown up. He does a good job. He has to be because he's surrounded by other strong actors. Aniston is a new player in Sandler's stable. Evans is a creepy villain who tries to kill Sandler. Stamp is a good villain. Aniston and Evans are good as the middle aged husband and wife. They have natural chemistry and they look like they're having fun. I'd like to see them together again. Stamp is also good as the villain but he doesn't get a chance to show his scary side. All of the cast were good but they didn't get a chance to shine.
The movie is an homage to Agatha Christie's books but that's a good thing. She's not the only one who could have done it. This movie could have been a fun time with some good characters and good dialogue. I just didn't find it entertaining. It's a clever concept but it doesn't succeed.
